My latest DIY project was this cute denim skater/mini circle skirt. I've been after one for a while and it occurred to me that I could probably knock one up for much less than a shop bought one. I started it a few weeks back, then my sewing machine decided to completely give up the ghost, jam when I so much look at it, and ended up in for a good old service. It came back last week, and I rejoiced at it being easy to use once more (seriously, I thought I'd lost the ability to work one for a while!).

Anyway, so this was my first project with pockets, and hey, look, they're even feature pockets! They're pretty massive:

I'd like to be able to add a version of this skirt to my etsy soon (when it's back up), because seriously, it's the most comfortable thing ever. It has an elasticated waist, and the stretch denim has enough weight to hold the skirt down without any Marilyn moments.

Today was one of those days where I feel like dressing a bit fancy for no reason, probably much to my colleagues' amusement! My hair was looking super fluffy, so I quiffed it and shoved it up with grips this morning, then added my old faithful feather clip:

Also, these are my new sandals, bought from Dorothy Perkins in their sale for all of £6. Seriously, they are the most comfortable things ever - I've never found sandals that feel comfortable, they always poke and jab in horrible places. These get bonus points for having a tiny heel and also being easy to cycle in. Hurrah!

An everyday sort of outfit today - these pieces are pretty much my staple wardrobe items. I think you've all seen them countless times before, but maybe not together in this way.

I've been thinking lately about my wardrobe habits. I'm pretty impulsive with my shopping, and it always means that my clothes storage is full to bursting. However, at the same time, I wear pieces like these to death, and I find that day to day, I keep to staple basic separates nowadays. This didn't use to be the case - I used to wear dresses and cardigans constantly (hello twee past), and I found that my wardrobe contained lots of dresses that I circulated regularly. Now my dresses are more for special occasions, and I am much more of a remixer of clothes.

Here's a slightly more every day outfit for you all today. I picked up these tweed cropped trousers from a goodwill in Portland over the summer. They're a modern brand, but the pattern, high waist and pleats make them feel very 60s to me! In an attempt to channel some Audrey I wore them simply with a blouse and loafers.

Another largely remixed outfit, incorporating a nice neutral blue cardigan I got for Christmas. It's not a colour I have lots of in my wardrobe, but it suited my cream/brown/grey palette of the moment.

Slightly lazy outfit today. I dragged this jersey pencil skirt out of a "to sell" pile, and decided the colour is actually pretty versatile so it's staying with me for now! And the pile of sales stuff sat right next to me will just have to wait another night.

This was worn for a day of charity shop rummaging in Otley. Sadly not much in the way of actual scores, but a pleasant way to spend a sunny day nonetheless. This brown velvet skirt was another sale score from Primark. I swear I think I've bought everything on that velvet range since I discovered it's all generously fitted! This is super short, though thankfully I saved my dignity with some cut offs beneath it!
